I can't turn my head side to side after being adjusted at the Chiropractor. What could be wrong?  I visited a chiropractor yesterday for the second day of my treatment for back pain. He adjusted my neck because it was stiff, after leaving I had a bad headache and it continued until I went to sleep.

Some soreness can sometimes be expected after Chiropractic adjustments. That is just the body's way of healing.  It's like going to a gym and working out...the body feels a little sore afterwards but soon stops feeling that way as the body starts getting stronger.

But if you have a stiff neck and a bad headache after a Chiropractic adjustment you should turn the car around and go back into the Chiropractor to get it re-looked at to ensure everything is actually in proper alignment. You could have a muscle that spasmed after the adjustment or you could have been over/under-adjusted and the body is reacting badly.

One time during a Chiropractic adjustment, a Chiropractor adjusted me when I wasn't ready and it caused me to immediately tense up and I had a headache turn on very quickly.  I let the Chiropractor know of this though and he did some other techniques to loosen the area back up.

But the key to feeling better in that situation...was letting my Chiropractor know there was a problem before leaving the office.
