How sore after first visit to Chiropractor?

Soreness is rare but some patients report feeling sore after their first visit to a Chiropractor.  This happens sometimes.  What is occuring is the bones are being put back into place and the muscles and the nervous system is responding in kind.  It's very similar to having a workout - the muscles get stretched and pulled and moved around and this causes them to feel a bit sore.  

However, this kind of soreness does go away and eventually goes away altogether with continued treatments. 

Usually the soreness from a Chiropractic adjustment will vanish in under an hour.  It's merely a sign that the body is adjusting to the adjustment and it's not necessarily bad.  If the soreness continues too long then come back to the office and have the doctor re-check things over to ensure things are fine.  Most doctors are happy to do a free re-examination on the same day of the appointment.
