Typical Chiropractic Visit at Chiropractic of Bellevue : Bellevue Chiropractor
These are typical office visit procedures that we use at our Bellevue Chiropractic
office. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/oQGGGAe8xU0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
These are things that I typically check for and what I treat when working with patients, new patients and longer term patients as well:
Typically I
have the patient lay down on their back in order to check the cervical region of the neck. When I check the neck I check for the free motion of the neck -- how much free motion the neck has. This tells me the condition of the upper portion of the spine.
Every area of the spine is necessary for nerve health. I find out the areas of the spine that are pinched or subluxated and then use a gentle chiropractic procedure on it. I then manually adjust the neck and then work my way down the spine and free up motion in the spine. With some patients, who are very young (babies) or old (who may have brittle bones and higher tendency for injury or lower tolerance for fast motion) I will usually try and use an instrument to more gently "adjust" them back into proper alignment.
As we go through and check the spine I try and move the spine to see how it is reacting to motion. All throughout the process of a visit I am testing and checking reactions to motion. There are a large variety of tests that Chiropractors can use to diagnose what areas of the body are in the highest
need for work. Quite typically the area that the patient thinks is the problem turns out NOT to be the real area needing attention.
Typically then, there is some fine tuning that needs to be done and therefore I will use an instrument like the Arthrostim, the Vibracussor or the iMPULSE device (see above video) to help gently manipulate the regions of spine back into optimum position. I quite frequently have the patient turn over on their stomach for this portion of the treatment.
Healing of the patient takes place at home, in between visits. The Chiropractor's job is to put the spine and joints back into optimum working position and then let the body take over and heal itself naturally. With the joints and the body being "out of alignment" the body cannot easily perform it's normal/natural healing process and that is all that we're trying to do in Chiropractic - put the body back into it's natural form so it can function and heal normally.
It's very similar to working out at the gym. You don't get bigger and stronger while working out...you
get bigger and stronger while healing between workouts.
Once all the areas of the body are addressed and the function and motion are restored...the body starts to heal and the body is also less prone for illness, disease, arthritis, scoliosis and other things. The spine and the nervous system affect every aspect of the body and its functions.
We then typically follow up the treatment with a short and simple "massage treatment" to which puts more motion and more energy into the body. It's very relaxing and it also gets the blood flowing and just irons out any tension or strain incurred during the office vist.
If you are contemplating seeing a Chiropractor, I strongly advise you just go and see one. If you have any concerns, merely voice these to your Chiropractor and he/she will adjust your treatment accordingly to fit your needs. One merely needs to fill out a few medical history forms and within an hour or so they are being treated and the healing will begin.
