Spasms

Spasms

Back spasms, leg spasms, neck spasms, etc are not conditions that should be allowed to go on long at all. Spasms are a huge indicator of much bigger problems. If a spasm is left for too long and not treated by a chiropractor soon...there can be huge unwanted conditions.

A neck spasm untreated can result in permanent bad neck posture that is near impossible to reverse because the vertabrae in the neck at some point can become fused and melded together.  When this happens the body is no longer able to correct itself back to normal modus operandi.

A spasm is a big signal from the body for HELP.  It is an SOS and that SOS call has to be answered in short order.

I've had many patients who just put ice on the spasm and waited for it to go away. Sometimes they resorted to aspirin or drugs which only compounded the problem. The spasm turned off but that wasn't the solution.

The spasm is the body's communication that it is in distress. The drug merely blankets the problem like a hand blocking out the sun to the eyes. The sun is still there. The hand is merely blocking the light. The same thing is happening when one merely takes a drug to block the pain or just waits the pain symptoms out till they become quieter or "not noticed".

The Chiropractic method is to release the pinched nerve and that almost always (in 95% of the cases) makes the muscle spasm stop. The spasm stops because the pinched nerve was relieved of pressure and put back into alignment.

Health care should be all about finding the cause of the problem and addressing that cause.  Drugs or surgery don't do a thing for the original cause of the condition. Drugs and surgery simply cope with and deal with the immediate symptoms.
