Should I tell my Chiropractor I have a bipolar disorder?

Should I tell my Chiropractor I have a bipolar disorder?

Yes, you should make your Chiropractor well aware of any pre-existing condition which you have going on.  This will give your treatment plan a better chance of succeeding.

Giving the doctor this information can allow him to also be a little more understanding of situations that may arise due to the pre-extant condition.

As a note: There are many Chiropractors who have received further extensive indoctrination in neurological Chiropractic techniques which can help patients with bipolar disorder.  And another noteworthy point is that many mental disorders can stem from a physical disorder.  The stress and fatigue that a pinched nerve can cause on a person, especially if it's gone on for a long time, can cause a person's mood to fluctuate dramatically.

I had an elderly patient at one time that would come in to the office in a mild state of dementia, talking to themselves and wandering around aimlessly. After treatment the patient would not be talking to themselves and could move a to b without getting easily distracted.  It appeared that the condition was mental but in fact the condition was stemming from the body being out of alignment and the patient spending too much time in bed all day.
