Is it possible my Chiropractor could have done more damage than good?

Is it possible my Chiropractor could have done more damage than good?

The answer to this is "usually no" but there are a few times when a Chiropractor could do more damage than good. If a patient comes in with a pre-existing condition such as a broken or fractured bone and then if the Chiropractor performed an adjustment he/she could make the situation worse. Fortunately though, most Chiropractors are well-trained and are able to tell that a bone is fractured or broken by merely listening to the patient complaints and doing a quick examination of an area.

Other than that situation there are very few situations which could happen with a Chiropractor making things worse than they already are.  Chiropractic is an all-natural, healing science and like Homeopathy, Acupuncture, Massage, etc it is very hard to create a worsened condition but it is not impossible.

A Chiropractor is setting the body back into it's original, normal and proper alignment so that it can function as a body should.  A Chiropractor is not "healing" anything but instead is setting things straight so the body starts on the path of healing itself.  When the nervous and musculoskeletal systems of the body are set right...the body has an all-natural, built-in process of healing itself and that is all that a Chiropractor is trying to accomplish.

When there is a pre-existing condition which goes undetected or unspoken about this can cause a Chiropractor (or any health care practitioner for that matter) to make an error in the treatment plan.  So to say that it's impossible to worsen a patient's condition would be false.

Although all Chiropractors by law carry a lot of malpractice insurance...there is rarely ever a case where a Chiropractor has done more damage than good.
